The Gravia brothers founded a small sawmill in 1961 in Brasilia, when it completed its first year as Federal Capital. The small family business has become a strong brand. The Gravia today is the greatest strength of the metallurgical industry in the Midwest, growing with quality throughout Brazil. Gravia Doors and Windows and Gravia Sections industry receive ISO 9001 certification.

The difficulty of maintenance and management of its nearly 200 workstations were the main problems faced by Gravia. “Many machines were broke and charts. About 12% of our machines were repaired every week, “said Carlos Alberto Gravia, the company’s IT Manager. Issues related to HD break, viruses, and processor boards due mother burned the high temperatures were the main obstacle faced by Gravia to have a network up and running.

Solution used

Thin clients act as CPUs, but do not have the need to store location information, causing the operating system and other software are centralized and processed on a server. This makes it possible to obtain better control the actions performed by the user on the workstation, while reducing the cost of electricity, hardware maintenance and software for each workstation. This solution is aimed at applications such as internet browsing, word processors, spreadsheets, emails and presentations. All segment with the best performance.

The Gravia installed about 160 thin clients to replace the old PCs in all its seven branches around the DF. Altogether there are 140 TC Net – M 20 Weeclient. The rest of the company’s stations is being changed gradually. “The idea is to change everything and we are already doing it. Each PC comes out of use, it is replaced by a thin client, “said Junior, responsible for managing the network of Gravia. Around 90% of all company workstations use the Thin Client Solution ThinNetworks

The management and maintenance were the main changes highlighted by Carlos Alberto Gravia. “It’s great! The replacement of the HD and the decrease in temperature of the seasons gives us a better, more practical way to manage the stations and a drastic reduction in spending on maintenance, “says Carlos Alberto. The staff optimization is another positive factor. All maintenance of nearly 200 workstations, the seven stores throughout the DF is made by four workers. This is another way to reduce expenses.
